designindustry alive and well!

Dorenda Britten - Monday, December 12, 2011

It is time to say hello again after a sixteen month hiatus. Once we explain that we are based in Christchurch we often have little need to explain why we’ve been a little quiet. The upside of the ‘Earthquake Saga’ is that many of us have learnt to live and work closely with virtual strangers as well as extended family members. We have all become expert navigators on ‘third-world’ roads.

We might not have been active in the ether but as ever we have been active on the ground!

We have a number of exciting projects on the go at the moment, including a strategic design review of one of the State Owned Enterprises, MetService’s businesses, Metra and a systems design project with the Ministry for Environment, Holcim, Christchurch City Council, BRANZ, Winstone Wallboards plus a group of significant waste industry companies.

designindustry has initiated a design research project with University of Otago, School of Business which will study the applicability of our Ten Design Principles™ Framework in small businesses in New Zealand.  The long goal for designindustry is to help New Zealand to both create and leverage a strong brand through ensuring our products and services meet increasingly complex human environmental and fiscal needs.

Aside from her consulting work Dorenda has been busy in the last year judging for the New Zealand Hi-Tech awards, for the fourth year.  She presented on Design in Health to the GP’s Conference, Auckland in September, the ISPIM Innovation Symposium, Wellington in November and to Ministry of Science in October.  She has recently become a contributor to Unlimited magazine.

We are currently going through a strategic design process leading to a re-development of our communication strategy, including website, which we are aiming to launch by the end of the first quarter 2012.

In the meantime Dorenda is happy to connect with you through Linkedin or by email via our contact form.

what our clients say

“I felt the “Design for Business Growth” course was a useful course to help open the mindset of the designer (or innovator) to deliver a product, service or technology that has sound commercial value."
